Crackle #8

Crackle #8 was held on Tuesday, Tuesday, Nov. 19th @ Cpop in Detroit. This was the "Electroacoustic" session of Crackle and featured different combinations of electronic and acoustic sound sources.

Hamtramck visual and audio artist Jeff Karolski began the evening with his "icy-hot dj set," an installation/peformance that featured salt-covered LPs being played on a turntable with a needle cartridge frozen in a block of ice while a hot plate and heating lamp slowly baked him in their warm red glow. East Lansing-based improv Rattling Wall Collective in Dutch performed using a wide range of processed & prepared guitar, percussion, samples and electronics. Members of E.L. improv group Shenanigans joined Rattling Wall on saxophones for part of their set. They then followed up with a multimedia performance of their own, pivoting around closely miced and processed sounds of a balloon and the human heart.
